About Us
Learning Land Nursery School is a licensed early childhood program for 3 to 6 year old children with a focus on socialization and learning. All Learning Land classes have a low student to teacher ratio of 8:1. Children are grouped in selected program classes according to their ages.
Our goal at Learning Land is to provide all students with a safe, comfortable and supportive learning environment. We will encourage your child to explore his or her surroundings with confidence and independence. Daily thematic activities are carefully designed by our experienced staff to foster your child's social and emotional development while providing an environment that promotes school readiness in a creative way.
In the interest of promoting school safety for all students, Learning Land is a nut-free school. We welcome any child between the ages of 3 and 6 and do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, national or ethnic origin (ancestry), disability, or sexual orientation.
Our History
Learning Land was established in 1962 as a small private school with a staff of only two teachers. Over the years it has grown to its present size of 4 classrooms and a staff of 3 trained and experienced teachers and several aids. In 1968, Learning Land was incorporated under Maine State Law as a non-profit educational institution, and it is now run by a Board of Directors and an Office Manager. Learning Land is fully licensed by the State of Maine.
